Abstract

The FuLLPIERS model (Integrated Estimation of Preeclampsia Risk Factors) aims to assess the risk of complications from preeclampsia, allowing real-time maternal risk stratification to guide care. The FuLLPIERS scale was developed in perinatal units in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia; over 2000 patients with preeclampsia were studied, seeking clinical and biochemical data as predictors of adverse maternal outcomes in patients with hypertensive disorders.

The predictive variables include gestational age, chest pain or shortness of breath, oxygen saturation, platelet count, creatinine concentrations, and transaminase concentrations. A 48-hour assessment window was chosen as it is the time for administering steroids to preterm infants. The FuLLPIERS model in its application evaluates: stratification capability—dividing into low and high-risk groups, calibration—reflecting the actual percentage of women with the outcome in each stratified group, classification accuracy—identifying patients likely to have adverse outcomes; thus providing a prognosis of possible complications within the time span from 48 hours to 7 days.

Our study, titled "Evaluation of the FuLLPIERS Scale (Integrated Estimation of Preeclampsia Risk Factors) during pregnancy termination and expectant management of severe preeclampsia at H.M.I.J.D.O. 2023," is a cohort, longitudinal, observational, prospective analytical study to be conducted in the Maternity Emergency Room and Labor and Delivery Room of the Jose Domingo De Obaldía Hospital. The objective is to validate the performance of the FuLLPIERS model as a predictor of perinatal complications in patients with severe preeclampsia. The primary outcome of this research is the internal validation of FuLLPIERS as a predictive tool for complications of severe preeclampsia.
