Ethics and Best Practices Policies

The Revista Iberoamericana de Innovación Científica JA TUAIDA is an open, peer-reviewed (double-blind) journal with semiannual publication (January–June and July–December) of the Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí (UNACHI), specialized in the fields of Social and Human Sciences.

The following statement of publication ethics and best practices is based on the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for journal editors, and the Ethical Code and Statement of Best Practices defined by the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB). At the same time, it demands absolute clarity in scientific writing, ensuring the quality of what is published and respecting the intellectual property of article content. All parties involved in the publication of the JA TUAIDA Journal must accept and adhere to the ethical principles outlined in this document.

The Ibero-American Journal of Scientific Innovation JA TUAIDA will ensure that the editorial committee, reviewers, and authors comply with the required ethical standards at all stages of the publication process. For this purpose, it is based on international references such as the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and the International Standards for Editors and Authors issued by COPE.

Authors’ Commitments

  • Multiple publications: Authors must not replicate their results in multiple scientific journals or any other type of publication, whether academic or not. Simultaneous submission of the same contribution to multiple scientific journals is considered ethically inappropriate conduct.

  • Truthfulness and accuracy of information: Authors submitting their work to the Ibero-American Journal of Scientific Innovation JA TUAIDA guarantee the originality of their contributions and that these have not been previously published elsewhere. They also certify that they have not incorporated extracts from other authors’ works nor altered empirical data to support their hypotheses.

  • Conflicts of interest and declaration: Authors must make an explicit statement if they have no conflicts of interest that could affect the results or interpretations of their work.

  • Attribution, citation, and references: Authors must always ensure the inclusion of appropriate references to the sources and contributions cited in their article.

  • Authorship participation: Authors commit to listing individuals who have made substantial scientific and intellectual contributions in the conception, planning, interpretation of results, and writing of the work. They must also determine the order of authors according to their degree of responsibility and contribution.

  • Availability and preservation: Should the Editorial Board consider it appropriate, authors must provide access to the sources or data used in their research. These data should remain available for a reasonable period after publication and, if possible, be accessible.

  • Correction of errors in published articles: If an author detects a significant error or inaccuracy in their already published article, they must immediately notify the journal editors and provide the necessary information to correct the error through a footnote, without altering the original version of the article.

  • Responsibility: Authors are solely responsible for the content of the articles published in the Revista Iberoamericana de Innovación Científica JA TUAIDA. They are also expected to conduct a comprehensive review of the most recent and relevant scientific literature related to the subject addressed, considering diverse perspectives and schools of thought.
